Wednesday night I closed the lid to my Macbook, left the church and headed home. Never did I think that when I got home and opened the lid was it going to freeze up and I was going to have to hard restart it. But that’s what happened. I have done this before and it always restarts, except this time.
I have been having some issues where finder would constantly crash and I would just restart and it was fine for a few days. But when I restarted, I came to my blue screen with the Apple Logo and the spinning pinwheel at the bottom. After an hour it still hadn’t started. I shut the computer down and went to bed.
After posting on Twitter about it and getting a response back from @pattigibbons about the number to call, I called it the next day we couldn’t get it to work.
#1 reason why I love Apple: CUSTOMER SERVICE!
After it wouldn’t start they set up an appointment at the Apple Store at Jordan Creek and I gladly went there. After about 10 minutes they told me that my hard drive was fried. They were going to have to replace it meaning that I would lose everything. Now if this was a PC, this would be a huge problem. But it isn’t…it’s a Mac.
#2 reason why I love Apple: TIME MACHINE!
Time Machine is the breakthrough automatic backup that’s built right into Mac OS X. It keeps an up-to-date copy of everything on your Mac — digital photos, music, movies, TV shows, and documents. Now, if you ever have the need, you can easily go back in time to recover anything. And when they say anything, they mean anything. When I connected my external drive to my Mac after the new hard drive was installed along with a fresh copy of Leopard, it imported documents, programs, and settings from the last back up. When it was done importing, my computer was back exactly how it was before the hard drive crashed!! And in an hour. Beat that PC! And how much did all of this cost me when I left the Apple Store?
#3 reason why I love Apple: APPLE CARE!
It cost me absolutely nothing because of Apple Care and it was finished in an hour and a half. Again, beat that PC!

Apple’s customer service is next to none, and Time Machine has been a life saver on several occasions. A lot of times they will work with you on your issue even without Apple Care. They’ve done a lot for me even though my policy is long expired. My roommate even had his hard drive fry just like yours and they replaced it for free without him having Apple Care. Apple works really hard to make sure their customers have the best experience possible.
