Welp…We Begin a New Year!

Posted on January 6, 2009by

I wonder what is going to come about in 2009. There’s a few things I am interested in.

I found out at the beginning of December that my job at the school will not be there for the next year. The Ankeny School District is restructuring some things for the next year and me and my other associate coworker are being replaced with 2 full-time teachers beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. I have really enjoyed working at the school and there really isn’t anything at this point I would want to do different. I love working with the kids and the staff at Northview and to think that I am not going to be there next year really bothers me. I have grown to love working with middle schoolers and I never thought that was going to be possible.

When I went to Faith I really wanted to be a youth pastor. But my aim was at Senior Highers, not middle schoolers. But with the two years at the YMCA, two years at SBC and the 3 years at the school I have really grown attached to this age group.

What does that mean for the future? I don’t know. I also work at Saylorville Baptist Church as the Children’s Ministries Director and have been given one of the greatest privileges by God and by the church to be apart of a restructuring of the children’s ministries there. I love being there as well. Abe (our youth pastor) asked me today how things were going in this area and I told him that I really feel content where I am at. God hasn’t changed my passion. I love working with the kids and until He changes my desire or places something else in front of me, I really have no reason to worry. He is going to work everything out in His timing and until He moves, I’m staying.

I just started taking a class through Baptist Bible Seminary. I am slowly working my way to a Master’s Degree. I guess you can’t get any slower than I am doing it. But God is still faithful.

Terase and I are going through some personal things right now that I am not ready to broadcast across the internet, but it is all positive. We don’t have an problems (debatable), we don’t have issues (really debatable), but we are searching God’s will in some decisions that He has placed in front of us and I would like to ask you to pray. Just some amazing things that I think He is working through us in.

Anyway…Those are the big things for 2009. Should be a great year. I am looking forward to what God has for Terase and I!!
