Sorry this one is going to be so long. This was yesterday and today’s thrown into one since I went to work early yesterday. Forgive me!
Romans 3:28-31 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. 29 Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
What a culmination of a study! I go through all these huge words and meanings of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done and He slaps me with this. Who is my god? I have learned that when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, a number of things happen. Because God is a just God, He forbeared (I don’t even know if that is a real word) our sins by looking over them and patiently waiting to do something about them but the patience only came as a result of His righteousness, which He sent His only Son to be a propitation, or a one time sacrifice for our sins, so we could be justified, or made righteousness and redeemed off the of the slave block of sin. Through this God shows His fairness through the conditions that He has lain out. We have a choice then; do we follow God or god?
It’s kind of weird to think of that. We can either chose God. That is the one who is
- knowable .God, who created the universe in all of its magnitude and creative details, is able to be known, by us. He tells us about Himself, but even goes beyond that. He welcomes us into a relationship, so that we personally can get to know Him. Not only can we know about Him, we can know Him, intimately.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.
He is Approachable.
God invites us to talk to Him and engage Him in what concerns us. It is His nature to be loving and accepting when we go to Him.
Psalm 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
He is Creative.
Everything we make is put together with existing materials or built on previous thoughts. God has the capacity of speaking things into existence, not just galaxies and life forms, but solutions to today’s problems. God is creative, for us. His power is something He wants us to be aware of and to rely on.
Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
Psalm 121:1-2 A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He is Forgiving.
We sin. We tend to do things our way instead of God’s way. And He sees it and knows it. God does not merely overlook such sin, but is prepared to judge and condemn people for their sin. However, God is forgiving and will forgive us from the moment we begin a relationship with him. Jesus, the Son of God, paid for our sin with his death on a cross. He rose from the dead and offers us this forgiveness.
Romans 3:22,25 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished–
He is Honest.
Just like a person who lets you know their thoughts and feelings, God clearly tells us about Himself, the possible difference being, He is always honest. Everything He says about Himself, or about us, is reliable information. Truer than our feelings, thoughts, and perception, God is totally accurate and honest in what He says. Every promise He makes to us can be fully counted on, He means it. We can take Him at his word.
Psalm 119:130,105 The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
He is Capable.
How would you like to be always 100% right, about everything? God is. His wisdom is unlimited. He understands all the elements of a situation, including the history and future events related to it. We do not have to update Him, counsel Him or persuade Him to do the right thing. He will, because He is capable and his motives are pure. If we trust Him, He will never make a mistake, never undercut us or deceive us. He can be fully trusted to do what is right, in all circumstances, at all times.
Psalm 25:3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.
Or we could not follow. We could do our own thing. I guess it would be called following ourselves. Worshipping ourselves. Isn’t that a weird concept to grab ahold of. When we don’t bow down and worship the creator, we bow down and worship the created. Picture this. Picture having a corner of your room where you go to on a regular basis. In that corner is a picture of you, a little bobble head of you, with insense that burn your favorite sent, painted with your favorite colors, with a refrigerator that is stuffed with your favorite food and drink. You even have a rug that you bow down to yourself with that has your picture sown into it. You get on your knees and worship yourself. Everything becomes about you. Your life is about pleasing you! You please your wants and desires, whatever they may be. You go where you want to go, do what you want to do, say what you want to say. And it doesn’t matter who goes down in the process. To be honest it feels good when those people around you go down. It’s no longer about how big you can make the creator, it’s now how big can you make the created. The title of your life’s book is
called, Look At Me and Who Are You?
What is your life’s book called? What is my life’s book called? Could I say that my life’s book would be called, Look At God and Who Am I? It’s amazing to think that so many times, like every day actually, I find myself wanting to write my own story. I have a better idea of how it’s suppose to go. Why? What’s the point? Why do I do this? Why do I think that my story is better than anybody else’s story, let alone the story that God is trying to write for my life? He is trying to write a blue print for my life. The most perfect…sorry not the most perfect but the only perfect, blue print that any engineer or contractor has ever seen. So detailed, that when one little part isn’t working, all isn’t working. Is my life working? Is what I am doing what God is wanting me to do? Who is my god?
